There she was, walking down the aisle, in the church where they first met, stunning as she could ever be. Her beaming complexion were hiding behind the veils, the white satin lace wedding dress fitted her perfectly around her curves and edges. Wedding bells, flowers and ribbons were decorated around the church. This is the day. Their day. The promises they made were sealed 12 years ago and now, truly fulfilled. She could not believe how the years and days has gone by. They are still freshly and newly in love. But yet, it has been 12 years together.
The pianist ran his slender fingers around the keys of the piano. Sophisticated and flawlessly. As the wedding song filled the service hall, hundreds of eyes were fixed on the intricately-made crystal flower arch that were specially made at the main door. The sweet little flower girl walked carefully one the red carpet, carrying a basket of petals and gracefully throws them on the floor. Next comes the handsome ring boy, taking the pillow with a pair of beautiful rings on it which symbolizes the promise between the two. And here comes the gorgeous bridesmaids and then the maid of honor and finally, her. She wrapped her hands around her father's arms, slowly balancing on her heels and long wedding gown. The joy and slight nervous in her eyes were perceptible. Cameras and smartphones were held up high as she stride down elegantly down the red carpet till the pulpit, absorbing every moment of this very day.
He was in his tux, set his hair with his favorite hairspray and her favorite perfume. His eyes sparkled when he catches her in the gown, beautiful as ever in the inside and out, he thought to himself. She's my wife! He just couldn't believe it that this day would actually come. 12 years! 12 years of ups and downs, twists and turns, joy and sadness. However they stood together. They never gave up.
"........ Do you so promise to honor, to love, to cherish her in sickness as in health, in poverty as in wealth, in hardships as in blessings, till death alone shall part you?"
He looks into her eyes, "I do."
"......Do you then promise to honor, to love, to cherish him in sickness as in health, in poverty as in wealth, in hardships as in blessings, till death alone shall part you?"
"I do."
After exchanging the rings, " You may now kiss the bride"
Suddenly, the bride took over the microphone from the pastor. "Before this, I would like to say something. I remember the time when we started dating, and I told him that I would never kiss anyone on the lips unless i'm going to marry him. So I just want to tell you honey, that I thank God for you in my life. Thank you for waiting for me patiently, for being there for me through everything we have been through, for just loving me unconditionally. I'm truly blessed to have you."
She puts down the microphone, stood there and looked at him.
He then picked up the microphone again, still not moving his eyes away from her. "No, we are blessed to have each other. And i shall now, kiss my bride."
She was in tears. He then opened her veil, caressed her cheeks with the back of his fingers, placed his hands on her neck and she, her hands on his broad chest, cherishing the familiar security and protection in his presence ..... And, they kissed, not too passionate but longingly, slow and sweet. The congregation cheered joyfully as they share this meaningful day with the newlyweds, praying in their hearts that they'll continue to shine for Jesus in their days to come.
It was their first kiss after 12 years of courting, and they shared it in the church, in front of the huge congregation and of course the presence of the Most High God. Indeed, they were truly blessed.
