That Sunset and You

Sitting at the back of the car, her heart raced. After she came back from Taiwan, she finally got to see him. He wore a white T-Shirt, emblazoned with hundreds of colorful and striking caps, as he walked towards the car with a smile on his handsome profile, carrying his backpack with his boyish posture. Her spirit lighted, as what she yearned for has finally been fulfilled.

They exchanged glances, as if there were a thousand words said by just an eye contact in a split second. She said to him inside:'How I missed you......''.

They went for breakfast. The first thing she said to him, 'You know that there's just one thing I miss about Taiwan. That's the chance I get to hear your voice every single night'. She whispered into his ears in an audible soft voice. He looked away, and let out a grin.

They went to the heritage sites in Penang where there are a tons of beautiful and unique street arts along the alleys on the island. It was incredible and worth the visit. How she wished she had the ability to draw and paint such artistic murals.

She didn't knew how to ride a bike, but she knew that no matter how, he would not leave her alone. And yes, of course, he agreed to take her around town on a double-seated bike.

Perhaps she was too heavy for him, or maybe he was too 'slim' for her, there were a couple of times when he stopped the bike abruptly. It, however in turn, gave them a good laugh as their chuckles reverberated in the air.

They stopped at a famous street art which there was a girl and a boy riding on a bicycle. She took out a sheet of napkin, tapped on his head gently to wipe away his perspiration that dotted down his forehead. His sweat drenched his shirt but he didn't even groaned a bit, and she knew it was because of love.

The photography session started. Everyone, surprisingly took turns by age, and when everyone took their pictures, they both were left. He gave her a 'i-dare-you' look,  and her competitive personality made her nod to his 'invitation'. And that was it, the first picture with his arms over her shoulders and hers around his waist.

Enjoying the warm sun and the wind blowing on their cheeks, they arrived at the ice ball stall. The ice balls covered with radiant color syrup looked intriguing during such sultry afternoon . It was refreshing as it quenched their thirst. They took pictures of each other as they indulge in the sweet and cooling ice balls.

They returned the bike that was rented and proceed to their next destination. The hotel. They shared jokes, played games and listened to the old love songs, mainly by Westlife. That was when she realized, perhaps emotions just isn't really his forte. She calls it, his 'emotionlessness' .

They arrived at the beach. She just admires the beach, the deep blue ocean, the fine and golden sand, the seashells of different shapes and sizes, the sea breeze, the inviting waves beating on the shore... Every thing was perfect, as if it was a drawing coming to live,so amusing and magical, leaving her breathless.

As sunset came, they knew that the day had come to an end. The globe of magnificent red sun descended graciously. The evening stretched on endlessly with its citrusy burst of colours in the sky. Temperatures dipped to a new low. All the couples were now together, trying to save every last minute they can for each other. They were together again, as he showed her the ripples in the water as he threw some pebbles into the sea, which was futile as the waves were getting bigger and stronger. She showed him a 'you lose' face and continued to watch him try again and again. The way he tilt his head, stable his body and let the tiny rock fly from his hands to meet the water, she just couldn't take her eyes off him even though it was only just a simple act. While he pretended that he  was drown, her heart would always skip a beat, to make sure that he gets up safely first then only she would  let out a smile, and shakes her head thinking why she fell in love with this childish guy. Or perhaps that's the reason that drew her closer to him, day by day.

He lets out his hand for her to grab him. While he was about to grab hold her hand, she lets go and 'splash' , he fell in back to the water. She chuckled cheekily and there they went, like little children playing at the sea shore, as the fiery sun retreated behind the clouds and sank in a graceful cloud of satin and silk.

They sat down, side by side, as he held her hand tightly while they enjoy the evening hues. She looked at him as he fixed his eyes on the beautiful sunset. His square chiseled jaw was one of the things that always attracted  her. He caught her gazing, looked into her eyes and smiled. He squeezed her hand thrice, and she squeezed it back. It was a secret between the both of them, that only they could understand. All she wanted to do at that very moment was to cuddle in his arms, to rest on his chest and perhaps just to plant a sweet kiss on his cheeks...

However, she was alerted by the time that she needed to leave earlier. She quickly collected her belongings and headed away the beach. She knew she would miss him badly, but she didn't look back. She kept on walking, thinking that she would miss all the fun. But then, suddenly, he followed her. He walked closely behind her and held her hand dearly, assuring her silently that he would always be by her side. Keeping that very moment deep in her heart, she knew she would never want to let go.  They strolled down the narrow  pathway, step by step, side by side, hand in hand, two hearts beating as one...
